The AERONET Science and Application Exchange 2024 took place from September 17th to 19th at the University of Maryland’s Alumni Center in College Park, MD. This three-day event brought together the global AERONET community—scientists, researchers, and partners—to discuss advancements and collaborate on key topics related to the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET). Discussions focused on scientific developments, instrument calibration, research, and the broader applications of AERONET data across the globe.
One of the key highlights of the event was a presentation by Professor Sheng Hsiang (Carlo) Wang from the Asia Pacific AERONET Calibration and Training Center (APAC). Professor Wang provided an in-depth update on APAC’s activities over the past year, emphasizing the center’s continued role in supporting the AERONET network across the Asia-Pacific region. He also extended an open invitation to potential new partners in Southeast Asia to join the network and collaborate on future projects.
In closing, Professor Wang announced that APAC will be offering AERONET training during the annual 7-SEAS (Seven SouthEast Asian Studies) meeting. This training session, designed to enhance the skills of AERONET users and partners, is scheduled for November 11, 2024, in Taipei, Taiwan.
